Rambassun (Sandeep) Sewpal is a graduate of the combined programme of Architecture and Urban Design of the University of Greenwich, London, UK; where he developed an active interest in the symbiosis of ecology and architecture. He has previously taught at the School of Architecture & Construction, University of Greenwich and the University of Mauritius. Rambassun holds a Master of Science in Real Estate & Property Management from the University of Salford, Manchester, UK.
Rambassun Sewpal trained and practised as an Architect in Mauritius and overseas where he contributed on different types of projects ranging from small domestic (villas and bungalows) to high rise buildings. He worked for the Ministry of Housing and Lands under the Service to Mauritius Programme as Architect on the Henrietta Housing Project. At the Ministry of Housing and Lands, He focused on the development of housing typologies for new subsidized housing projects based on the concepts of adaptability and flexibility. He also worked as Project Architect on the new British High Commission office. Having worked on various public buildings across the country to meet the requirements of the wider public forged his experience to work in challenging environments and meet the expectation of demanding clients. Bringing his extensive experience to the work of SSA on the approach of a design studio to experiment and develop architectural ideas to provide innovative and bespoke solutions to meet client needs. SSA has for mission to provide quality design while ensuring a flexible and effective service.
Rambassun Sewpal is a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA), Chartered Member of the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and registered with the Professional Architects Council (PAC) in Mauritius.
Rambassun Sewpal was selected to the council of the Mauritius Association of Architects (MAA) for the period 2013-2014 and 2014-2015 to serve as Co-opted Member.
Rambassun Sewpal was elected to the council of the Professional Architects' Council (PAC) for the period 2021-2023 to serve as Council Member and for the period 2023-2025 as Vice-Chairman and represented the PAC on the Construction Industry Development Board (CIDB) for the period 2022-2024 and the Building Control Advisory Council (BCAC) for the period 2022-2024 as Council Member and currently represents the PAC on the Construction Industry Authority (CIA) for the period 2024-2026 as Board Member.
